let's Understand our snakes. I have started this series where I give information about various snakes and this time it's my favorite one. The Green Keelback also known as grass snake because of its lush green colour. Again a very beautiful non Venomous snake found almost everywhere around us and handling this one is much easier than handling any other snake. When green Keelback are baby they come with green colour and black stripes on them and as they grow Black stripes vanish and only green colour is visible which makes it look really awesome. It feeds on rats, frogs , garden lizards etc. But caution again, Keelback family itself is known for their bites but only this one is peace loving, but again snakes , if handled in a wrong way , can always bite. This snake looks similar to bamboo pit viper which is a Venomous snake. So be careful if u spot a snake which is green in colour, though bamboo pit vipers are not found in our locality it's always suggested to be cautious and careful. And one defence mechanism they use is , trying to compress their neck muscles which gives them the look of Cobra and sometimes they are mistaken as Green Cobra. Don't worry, there is nothing like green cobra .keep loving snakes and let me know in the comments if u have any doubt.

Few interesting facts about snakes. 2) I my previous post of this series I spoke about how the cold blooded nature of snakes affects the food habits. Continuing this series. Now I am going to talk about yet another fact. Did you know that snakes can survive even after they are beheaded ? Yes that is true. But how ? let's see . Again here, cold blooded nature of the snake plays an important role. As we know that major portion of the oxygen that is consumed in the body goes to brain, but snakes being cold blooded do not use much of its oxygen as they get heat from external source. So brain stays active even when it is separated from the body. But attention my dear friends, snake is in pain now. Now it is more dangerous than its earlier state when its body was in good condition. So what happens now, as a natural instinct, if you happen to trouble the snake it will bite you, but now that it is in pain, it will inject more venom. Chances of survival are less but moving to the hospital and taking proper treatment is the only choice. So here is the deal, stay away from snake when it is injured, attempt to dispose its body only when u r convinced about its death. If you are not convinced about the death and you know that snake is going to die anyway, this can be most brutal, but crush its head. These are the precautions and not ways to kill a snake. They play a vital role in balancing the ecosystem and food chain. You can always comment below for any query. Thank you.

Few interesting facts about snakes. 1) Do you know that snakes are cold blooded creatures. So does that make any difference ? yes it does. Snakes being cold blooded they try to avoid cold regions and are mostly found in humid to temperate zones. So you may not see or rarely see snakes on very high altitudes. This phenomena has one more effect i.e food habits, You all must have see a python eating a huge deer and then disappearing for years. That is because snakes are cold blooded animals and are habituated to absorbing heat from external source like sun, warm rocks etc, so the need very lees food to survive unlike humans, who generates energy by eating and that takes a form of heat .

Let's Understand our snakes. After writing about the BIG four Family and the King Cobra here is the time to know few of our non Venomous snakes. Yes you can call them your friend. So here I am writing about most commonly found Rat Snake. It comes in various colours including black, brown, striped brown, striped black and so on. often misunderstood as a cobra and killed. one easy way to recognise that snake is look for the hood. Cobras are naturally born with extra flesh around their neck which they use as hood but same doesn't happen with Rat snakes. They mostly feed on rats, lizards, frogs etc. Yes they are attacking in nature but only if disturbed. So next question is what to do after a bite. Well , first thing is do not panic, if u know that it is a non Venomous snake, just clean your wound and reach out to doctor and get yourself a injection of tetnus. Rat snakes are considered friends of farmers bcz they eleminate huge population of rodents. Hope this helps you. de let know in the comments below if you have any questions. thank you. #khelohyderabad #thugsof39 #decathlonuppal.
